Therapeutic Massage
in Canmore
A deeply integrative approach combining myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and remedial techniques โ tailored to your body’s unique patterns. Trusted by Canmore residents, athletes, and Bow Valley adventurers since 1998.
More than relaxation โ a clinical approach to lasting relief
Therapeutic massage at Lisa Rummel’s Canmore clinic is built on clinical assessment, not guesswork. Every session begins with a brief intake to understand your current pain patterns, activity demands, and treatment goals โ so the hands-on work is always purposeful.
Techniques are drawn from a toolkit built over 25 years: Swedish effleurage to warm tissue, myofascial release to address fascial restriction, trigger point therapy for referred pain, and cupping when tissue needs deeper decompression. No two sessions are identical.
What therapeutic massage can help
Therapeutic massage is clinically supported for a wide range of musculoskeletal, neurological,
and stress-related conditions.
Cervical and lumbar tension, disc-related referral patterns, facet irritation, and postural strain from desk work or driving.
IT band syndrome, rotator cuff strain, plantar fasciitis, shin splints, tennis elbow, and repetitive strain from climbing and trail running.
Tension headaches originating from sub-occipital and cervical trigger points, and cervicogenic headaches related to forward head posture.
Nervous system regulation through parasympathetic activation. Helps reduce cortisol, lower resting muscle tone, and improve sleep quality.
Scar tissue mobilization, oedema management, and re-integration of compensatory movement patterns after joint replacement or soft-tissue surgery.
Cervical strain, ligament sprains, and associated muscle guarding following motor vehicle accidents. Works alongside physiotherapy and chiropractic care.
Four integrated modalities, one session
Lisa draws from a broad clinical toolkit โ each technique is selected based on your tissue state, not routine.
Slow, sustained pressure applied to fascial restrictions throughout the body. Particularly effective for chronic postural patterns, whiplash, and repetitive strain injuries common in climbers and cyclists.
Targeted pressure to hyper-irritable muscle nodules that refer pain to distant sites. Resolves patterns like neck-to-head pain, glute-to-leg referral, and shoulder blade aching that don’t respond to stretching alone.
Swedish effleurage to warm and prepare tissue; deep tissue techniques to address sub-layer muscle holding. The balance shifts session to session depending on your body’s readiness and treatment goals.
Decompressive suction cups lift and separate fascial layers rather than compressing them. Used for dense scar tissue, thoracic restriction, and IT band tightness. Temporary circular marks are normal and resolve within days.
Available in 60 and 90-minute formats to suit your goals.
Myofascial, trigger point, deep tissue, and Swedish are blended in each session.
