Aromatherapy in Canmore
Therapeutic-grade essential oils to calm the nervous system, support emotional wellbeing, and enhance the physical benefits of your treatment. Aromatherapy can be added to any session or booked as a standalone treatment.
Scent and touch working together for deep relaxation
Aromatherapy uses carefully selected therapeutic-grade essential oils — inhaled and applied topically through massage — to support the body’s natural relaxation response. Aromatherapy was Lisa Rummel’s first post-graduate field of study, and she has been a fully qualified aromatherapist since 2002.
Her training began with a 12-week Aromatherapy Foundations course covering therapeutic-grade essential oils and absolutes — how they are produced, and their physical and psychological effects. She studied blending technique across top, middle, and base notes, and how to work with a range of carriers, from creams and shampoos to massage oil blends. Safety and contraindications are understood as a core part of every blend she prepares.
At Lisa Rummel RMT, aromatherapy is never an afterthought. Oils are selected in conversation with you based on your presenting concerns — whether that’s stress, disrupted sleep, anxiety, muscular tension, or simply needing an hour of genuine restoration. Aromatherapy can be enjoyed as a dedicated relaxation treatment or added to any massage session for just $15.
What aromatherapy can support
The combination of essential oil inhalation and therapeutic touch creates a uniquely calming effect on the nervous system and emotional state.
Essential oils such as lavender, bergamot, and clary sage are traditionally used to calm the nervous system, and many clients find them deeply relaxing during stressful periods.
Relaxing oil blends combined with muscle tension relief encourage the body’s natural wind-down response, which many clients find supports deeper, more restful sleep.
Peppermint, rosemary, and eucalyptus are traditionally used to ease tension headaches and tight, overworked muscles when combined with hands-on massage.
Grounding oils such as frankincense, sandalwood, and cedarwood offer a calming, centring presence during periods of emotional difficulty, grief, or overwhelm.
Oils such as tea tree and eucalyptus are traditionally used for respiratory comfort and can be especially welcome during seasonal transitions.
Adding aromatherapy to a therapeutic or deep tissue session amplifies relaxation, helps muscles release more readily, and extends the post-treatment sense of ease.
Only therapeutic-grade essential oils used — never synthetic fragrance oils.
